Phishing is when someone makes a fake website that looks identical to the actual one in order to collect passwords or emails.

 

Spoofing

Spoofing is when someone tricks two people into believing that those two people are talking to each other, but really the spoofer is monitoring both conversations and collecting personal information.

  1. Never put personal information on the internet unless you know for a fact that you are sending it to the person you want to send it to.
  2. Make sure you are sending information over a secure, https website.
  3. Never use a debit card to make purchases on the internet.
  4. Do not put your social security card anywhere on the internet.
  5. Type emails as if 1000 strangers were going to read it.
  6. Don't send personal information through email
